How we fought bad ads in 2015

How we fought bad ads in 2015

When ads are good, they connect you to products or services you’re interested in and make it easier to get stuff you want. They also keep a lot of what you love about the web—like news sites or mobile apps—free.

But some ads are just plain bad—like ads that carry malware, cover up content you’re trying to see, or promote fake goods. Bad ads can ruin your entire online experience, a problem we take very seriously. That’s why we have a strict set of policies for the kinds of ads businesses can run with Google—and why we’ve invested in sophisticated technology and a global team of 1,000+ people dedicated to fighting bad ads. Last year alone we disabled more than 780 million ads for violating our policies—a number thats increased over the years thanks to new protections weve put in place. If you spent one second looking at each of these ads, it’d take you nearly 25 years to see them all!

Here are some of the top areas we focused on in our fight against bad ads in 2015:

Busting bad ads
Some bad ads, like those for products that falsely claim to help with weight loss, mislead people. Others help fraudsters carry out scams, like those that lead to “phishing” sites that trick people into handing over personal information. Through a combination of computer algorithms and people at Google reviewing ads, we’re able to block the vast majority of these bad ads before they ever get shown. Here are some types of bad ads we busted in 2015:
Counterfeiters
We suspended more than 10,000 sites and 18,000 accounts for attempting to sell counterfeit goods (like imitation designer watches).

Pharmaceuticals
We blocked more than 12.5 million ads that violated our healthcare and medicines policy, such as ads for pharmaceuticals that weren’t approved for use or that made misleading claims to be as effective as prescription drugs.

Weight loss scams
Weight loss scams, like ads for supplements promising impossible-to-achieve weight loss without diet or exercise, were one of the top user complaints in 2015. We responded by suspending more than 30,000 sites for misleading claims.

Phishing
In 2015, we stepped up our efforts to fight phishing sites, blocking nearly 7,000 sites as a result.

Unwanted software
Unwanted software can slow your devices down or unexpectedly change your homepage and keep you from changing it back. With powerful new protections, we disabled more than 10,000 sites offering unwanted software, and reduced unwanted downloads via Google ads by more than 99 percent.
Trick to click
We got even tougher on ads that mislead or trick people into interacting with them—like ads designed to look like system warnings from your computer. In 2015 alone we rejected more than 17 million.
Creating a better experience
Sometimes even ads that offer helpful and relevant information behave in ways that can be really annoying—covering up what you’re trying to see or sending you to an advertiser’s site when you didn’t intend to go there. In 2015, we disabled or banned the worst offenders.
Accidental mobile clicks
We’ve all been there. You’re swiping through a slideshow of the best moments from the Presidential debate when an ad redirects you even though you didn’t mean to click on it. We’re working to end that. Weve developed technology to determine when clicks on mobile ads are accidental. Instead of sending you off to an advertiser page you didnt mean to visit, we let you continue enjoying your slideshow (and the advertiser doesnt get charged).

Bad sites and apps
In 2015, we stopped showing ads on more than 25,000 mobile apps because the developers didn’t follow our policies. More than two-thirds of these violations were for practices like mobile ads placed very close to buttons, causing someone to accidentally click the ad. There are also some sites and apps that we choose not to work with because they don’t follow our policies. We also reject applications from sites and mobile apps that want to show Google ads but dont follow our policies. In 2015 alone, we rejected more than 1.4 million applications.

Putting you in control
We also give you tools to control the type of ads you see. You can always let us know when you believe an ad might be violating our policies.

Mute This Ad
Maybe you’ve just seen way too many car ads recently. “Mute This Ad” lets you click an “X” at the top on many of the ads we show and Google will stop showing you that ad and others like it from that advertiser. You can also tell us why. The 4+ billion pieces of feedback we received in 2015 are helping us show better ads and shape our policies.
Ads Settings
In 2015, we rolled out a new design for our Ads Settings where you can manage your ads experience. You can update your interests to make the ads you see more relevant, or block specific advertisers all together.
Looking ahead to 2016
We’re always updating our technology and our policies based on your feedback—and working to stay one step ahead of the fraudsters. In 2016, we’re planning updates like further restricting what can be advertised as effective for weight loss, and adding new protections against malware and bots. We want to make sure all the ads you see are helpful and welcome and we’ll keep fighting to make that a reality.

How to program EEPROM with digiprog 3 v4 94 detail

How to program EEPROM with digiprog 3 v4 94 detail

Here is the detail instruction on how to program EEPROM with digiprog 3 odometer correction tool through “EEPROM” menu.

On some vehicles you can see an eight pin EEPROM chip which is used to store the vehicle data and these chips grasp vital information from the vehicle such as ignition and immobilizer codes. Once you lose those data, it may cause anything from minor fault to major faults and even make you have to repair your machine, so it is very important to use the digiprog3 “EEPROM” menu to read and save the original information.

The EEPROM chip would have a number on the top of itself and usually it will be “93C46?, you can connect it to your digiprog III via ST1 or ST4 adaptor. Then you should tell your digiprog III which chip you are working on before you use it to read.

EEPROM chip 01/04 Adapter picture taken:

How to program EEPROM using digiprog 3 mileage correction kit?

1.       De-solder EEPROM chip;

2.       Confirm the contact points or legs with glass fiber pin thoroughly;

3.       Clean clearly with sandpaper;

4.  Insert EEPROM correctly into Digiprog3 ST01/ST04 adapter, and make sure they are well contacted;

5. Connect DP3 device to your car via OBD connector

6. Enter “EEPROM” menu

7. Read data from EEPROM and store them in digiprog3; Follow this way:

Select the “SET TYPE” and choose “93C46?, then your digiprog has been set up to read a 93C46 chip. Press “EEPROM” again and then “READ”. There will show you the information on the digiprog III screen when the reading is complete. Now press “VERIFY” so the information on your screen can agree with the Eeprom.

Next click the “FILE” and there will show you another sub-menu, you can click “SAVE” and enter a file name for the information you are saving. Once you entered the file name, your data is safe and the vehicle is now ready to be reprogrammed.

8. Get EEPROM from ST01/ST04 adapter and reload it;

9. Select the function EEPROM COMPARE;

10. Then it is the previous read data on digiprog 3 but not the internal memory, comparing it with the now re-inserted EEPROM;

NOTE:

Error message may appear during the process, restore or reprogram, restore the original data status and it will be fixed.

Apart from DigiProg 3 EEPROM Menu, it also have CAR/TRUCK Menu, Motorcycle Menu,Special Functions Menu and Setup Menu.

How does Honda HDS HIM perform forced regeneration of DPF

How does Honda HDS HIM perform forced regeneration of DPF

This blog is a tutorial for you to perform forced regeneration of DPF using HondaHDS HIM diagnostic tool. Let’s go straight to the point!

First question: Replace DPF or regenerate DPF filter?

The correct decision must take into account the vehicle’s intended use and driving style. If the vehicle is to be used for short, stop-start journeys, with few frequent, then removal is recommended. If the vehicle will be driven hard, with high frequency long journeys, then it’s better to regenerate DPF to save cost.

Second question: How to use Honda HDS HIM perform forced regeneration of DPF?

(This guide demonstrates Honda Civic 8 as an example.)

Tool you need:

1.     Honda HDS HIM

2.     RS232 Convert Connector/ Adapter

Before starting you should make sure:

- You need a PC laptop with stable power charge and avoid power cut during the operation.

- The process takes about 30min. So either you stay in the car while time is still on or off with the PC: not to go back in the car during the regeneration, avoids interactions with it to avoid problems.

- If you use an adapter Com (232) -> USB, verify that the com port is set to COM1. The interface does not work on another COM port!

- Check the oil level before and after regeneration. If after regeneration, the oil level is too high or if it stinks diesel will require draining.

- Disable the energy saving USB, antivirus, internet and all that can use PC resources.

Steps to regenerate DPF filter:

1)    To start regeneration, you should first make the car exhaust get to a hot enough temperature, ideally around 600 degrees Celsius. Open the hood and disable all pump energy (ceiling, etc ...) and especially not fun to reactivate during operation.

2)    Connect the Honda HDS scanner with car and laptop. Start Honda HDS software then turn car ignition on to position II.

3)    Press the "Select a new vehicle" and enter the mileage.

Select "System" then "Diesel"

4)    Check and delete the DTC, menu "DTC - given frozen". It’s necessary to remove DTC codes before operation and also check the various sensors of the DPF.

After that go back to "Settings" and select "DPF Regeneration"

5)    Put the engine keep running. Turn on the lights and the air conditioner. (If the engine is not the right temp, HDS will ask to accelerate between 1600 and 2400trs/min. When the temp is reached, HDS takes over, release the accelerator.)

6)    Allow HDS to regeneration. The engine mounts alone at 3000trs/min during regeneration. It is stagnant at 1500 trs/min. At the end of the regeneration scheme dates back to 3000 trs/min to cool the exhaust line (weird, but it is like here)

7)    When the regeneration is complete, quit HDS, turn off engine, remove the cables from HIM and go for a ride to make sure the cooling line. In this way you can use Honda HDS HIM diagnostic tool to regenerate DPF to save lots of money!

How I Write Effective Post Titles to drive more traffics

How I Write Effective Post Titles to drive more traffics

Image result for how to prepare post title of website

Blog post titles can make or break your career in online business.

Write something entertaining and eye-catching and you’ll find a blog post that might otherwise have gone unnoticed getting thousands of social shares, hundreds of comments and a boost in Google rankings.
Write a crap title, however, and even the best blog post will get skipped.
Now, I’m not saying that I always write effective titles for my blog posts – I still have so much to learn and there are countless websites that do them a whole lot better than me. But, I’ve been asked about my methodology a few times now and thought it might be something a few of you might like to read.
So here we go!

What makes for an effective post title?

Let’s start this post by talking about what makes a title effective.
To my mind there are a few things we can talk about here – each one slightly more challenging than the last:
  1. It should catch their eye
The very first thing a title needs to do is catch someone’s eye whether they see it in an email, Facebook feed, Tweet or whatever. Cutting through noise is hard.
  2. It should get a click
The next thing you need to do is get them to click through to read it. This is much more difficult than it sounds – some formats only have 0.5 to 1% click through rates.
  3. It should cause an engagement or action
Some people will share or like an article simple based on whether they think their friends will like the article’s title. More likely, however, is that your title encourages someone to read your excellent content.
  4. It should assist your long-term Google rankings
A good title not only gets people interested in the article but also helps you to rank well on Google. More about this later.
You might write a title that you really love and think is clever as hell but unless it is leading to these types of responses you will be wasting your time.

How to write effective post titles

Okay so writing a good title is not easy.
We all know that.
It takes a lot of practice and it also requires a lot of testing to see what works and what sort of tiny variations you can make to elicit a big change in performance.
But there are some things you can do every time, sort of like a routine, to ensure that you get the best possible chance of success.
Today’s post is not going to be a formula that you can follow – mostly because I don’t follow one myself. Rather, what I want to do is just give you a few different things that you can think about and do each time you sit down to write.
Hopefully that helps you get results.
1. Always consider your target audience first
Before you write a title for a blog post you need to think about your target audience.
Who are they? What do they do? How old are they? These are all important questions that can have a big impact on how your titles form.
Perhaps most importantly, however, is the question: what problems do they have?
If your title can tap into that anxiety (and perhaps solve it!) you’ll find yourself getting a much better engagement rate.
Always know who you are writing for and what issues they are having. Successful websites that are aimed at professional corp orates “feel” completely different to music sites for teenagers. That’s important.
2. Think about where they are reading the title
This point relates heavily to Frank’s question about email subject lines because when your title is designed to be read in an inbox you need to factor in things like mobile screen sizes.
Here’s a screen shot of two emails that I sent to myself using some pretty lazy examples of my own headings. You can see how on my iPhone the subject gets quite cropped and the text underneath plays a really big role. If you have a large percentage of people reading your emails on their mobile you’ll need to pay careful attention to how much fits.
phone screen
3. Know exactly what short and long-tail keywords you’re targeting
Keywords are a vital part of blogging success.
You need to know exactly what keywords your blog as a whole is targeting, and you need to know what keywords each individual post is targeting and how that helps to create a big blog-wide picture. To do this well you need to know a little bit about short and long-tail key phrases and how they all work together.
Here’s an example if you aren’t sure:
Short-tail: grow a blog
Long-tail: how to grow a blog in 2015
As you can imagine, short-tail keywords are extremely competitive and difficult to rank for. What most people now do is try to rank for a series of longer-tail alternatives where you add an extra bit of information on the end to target a smaller group of people.
I’ve written a bit about keyword research for blogging before so I won’t go over it again in too much detail. At a minimum, you want to spend 20 minutes to an hour researching and making sure you can compete and are targeting the right things.
4. Pick a post title strategy and work your keywords into it
So now we are up to the bit where you actually start to draft some titles.
This is where it gets lengthy!
It’s at the point where we have to communicate our ideas to our readers, show them what we want to achieve, generate some curiosity, and also add in the key phrase for the benefits of Google SEO.
Each thing that you leave out makes for a less effective title.
So how do you do that?
Well, the best bet is to use some kind of title strategy that gives you a little method or guideline to follow.
Here are some examples:
  • Shock value
Two titles that have worked really well for me personally are Why I Hate Copyblogger which was published on Copy blogger itself and an email I sent with the subject Goodbye Old Friend about switching to my new responsive theme. Both caused a big stir, but had the downside of a bit of negative feedback for scaring people! Note that these don’t address all of our criteria.
  • Scarcity
Human beings are hardwired to minimise loss and as such using a title that indicates that readers are already losing something, or that there is a limited amount of something available to them can be incredibly effective. My most effective example of this is probably Why Blogging is a Waste of Time because so many of the readers were already heavily involved in blogging.
  • Time sensitivity
Time sensitivity is closely related to scarcity – if there is a limited amount of time available people will be more likely to act. My favorite example of this is from Glen who actually uses that phrase in the title Time Sensitive: How to Reach 100,000,000 Unique Visitors in Just 6 Months. If you don’t feel compelled to click this link you might actually need to see a doctor. Another big example from this week is the article Google Search is About to Make a Major Change.
  • Exclusivity
Sticking to our biological needs, humans really love being part of something exclusive. We can see this awful ego in action all over the place with premium memberships; the clubs and groups you join when you buy a Porsche, for example. Even just hinting at something exclusive can be very powerful as I was happy to see in my post REVEALED: 19 Things to Know Before You Start a Blog which has been a big post for me.
  • Fear and anxiety
Marketing is normally about solving a need that someone has (although we could argue that these days marketers create artificial needs to sell us crap…). If you can incorporate a fear or anxiety into your title you’ll generate immediate interest. The title How a Single Guest Post May Have Gotten an Entire Site Penalized by Google does that extremely well because we’ve all done guest posts and we’re all kind of scared of that penalty.
  • Extraordinary value
Titles that communicate an extraordinary amount of value often do really well, especially if the article itself actually follow through with the promise. I tried to do this with a post called My 9,381-Word Guide on How to Start a Blog and Dominate Your Niche. It took a long time to write but the results have been pretty good. In my opinion Glen is the king of these types of titles with examples like How 3 Guys Made Over $10,000,000 Last Year Without a Single Backlink.
These are just some very basic examples. I’ll try to give you a few more tactics towards the end of the post in case you want to go deeper on how to work these motivations into your title and headline writing.
5. Keep your title in view and constantly tighten it
When I was in university someone told me to read the essay question every few minutes to stop myself going off track.
It was very good advice.
I like to keep my title in view and read it again and again as I type each paragraph. This helps me stay on track, but it also forces me to review the headline and tighten it up as the post evolves – which it always does.
On average I would say that my titles get re-written at least 20 to 40 times before I publish.
Sometimes the title will change because you realize that there is a better topic/angle for your overall blogging strategy, other times you just figure out better and better ways to say what you want.
The main iterations of this post’s title went:
How to Write A Blog Post Title
Why My Blog Post Titles Take Hours to Write
My Method of Writing Effective Blog Post Titles
How I Write Effective Blog Post Titles
Why Writing Blog Post Titles Can Take Hours
Why My Effective Titles Take Hours
How I Write Effective Post Titles (and Why it Can Take Hours)
How I Write Effective Titles (and Why it Takes Hours)
(Dear Google, I am not keyword-stuffing here. ?? )
Each one of these variations also probably had two or three versions that I toyed with. Sometimes I will sit there and do this until I feel solid about it, other times I will revise the title as I write the article itself in order to get the whole entity flowing together.
6. Publish your post and tweak for different versions
Okay so this is where the “art” of title-writing starts to turn more into the “science” of title-writing.
Once you’ve finished writing the perfect blog post you hit publish and then start to take care of all the other versions of your post title that need to be addressed.
For example, the way your title appears on Google, Facebook, your blog itself, and your mail out can all be completely different if you so choose.
I touched on the mail out above with the iPhone sizing so let’s talk more about the appearance in the search engine rankings here.
With a plugin like All in One SEO Pack or Yoast’s WordPress SEO you can actually change the title of your posts so that they appear diff
